Dyslexia is one of the most frequently diagnosed neurodevelopmental disorders in school-age children. This Guide, intended for psychologists only, demonstrates how the Intelligence and Development Scales for Children and Adolescents aged 5–20 (IDS-2) widely used in Poland can be employed to diagnose symptoms and pathomechanisms of dyslexia and dyslexia risk. It not only presents detailed diagnostic procedures using IDS-2 in cases of suspected dyslexia or dyslexia risk but also includes a new Phonological Awareness Test designed to assess phonological deficit in adolescents aged 11–16. The third tool supporting the proposed dyslexia diagnosis procedure described in the Guide is the Rapid Naming Test (TSN-M and TSN-S). A notable advantage of the Guide is that it also provides suggestions for further action when dyslexia is diagnosed (assessment of factors often accompanying dyslexia) or when dyslexia is not diagnosed despite evident reading difficulties (assessment of basic cognitive abilities when dyslexic reading problems are ruled out). In both cases, such assessments, also using IDS-2 tests, can be helpful in determining the scope and form of therapeutic interventions.
