The PROKOS measures social competencies in five specific areas: assertiveness, cooperation, social mindedness, resourcefulness, and community awareness; thus enabling to create a profile diagnosis.
PROKOS consists of 60 diagnostic items (concerning social competences) and 30 buffer items (concerning non-social competences). All items describe activities or tasks. The item form is modeled after the KKS questionnaire of Anna Matczak, but their content is changed to include situations and activities typical for the social functioning of an adult, especially at work. The examinee rated how he/she copes/would cope with listed activities or tasks on a four-point scale – from Decidedly well over Rather well and Rather poorly to Decidedly poorly. The diagnostic items constitute five scales, developed on a basis of the factor analysis.

The PROKOS questionnaire is intended mainly for persons with the high or middle educational level, can be used in diagnosis of employees in situations requiring selection/transfer. It enables to discover strong/weak points in the social functioning, thus helping in defining training needs. The diagnosis with the PROKOS may also help in revealing more severe deficits in the area of social competences or lowering of the self-appraisal of the social functioning and agency when contacting others, what may be the basis for therapy. The manual gives some examples of such applications.
Reliability
High indices of internal consistency and test-retest reliability, for the general score and for separate scales as well.
Validity
Confirmed, as expected, by correlations of scores with social and emotional competencies measured in another way, intensity of the natural social training, interests, temperament/personality traits, and intergroup differences. There are also data which speak for the discriminant validity of the particular scales. There is also a correspondence of self- PROKOS description and competence assessment of examinees performed by others.
Norms
Standard ten, separately for men and women, based on a 662-strong sample.
The test is also available as an online examination on the Epsilon Platform and as an option for entering and calculating scores from the paper-and-pencil version on the Epsilon Platform.
