The KKS assesses social competency understood as acquired skills determining effective human functioning in a variety of social settings. In addition to a global score, the KKS yields three sub-scores indicating level of social competency on the following dimensions: situations involving social exposure, situations demanding assertiveness and situations demanding close interpersonal contact.
The KKS consists of 90 items – expressions of a variety of activities in the infinitive mood. Subjects rate these items on a four-point scale of effectiveness of execution of the activities. Sixty expressions apply to activities involving coping with various social situations which may be viewed as difficult.
The third edition of the KKS includes changes based on research conducted between 2022 and 2023: new norms for individuals aged 14–19 and 20–29, new data on the questionnaire’s reliability and validity, and updated interpretive guidelines. Additionally, this edition of the KKS includes a consolidated sheet from the two earlier versions, M and D (some items have been slightly modified, and some expressions have been modernized).

The KKS can be used in both diagnostic practice and scientific research. Its main areas of application include professional selection and career counseling, clinical counseling, and scientific research, particularly in the study of social and emotional intelligence.
Reliability
High internal consistency coefficients.
Validity
Confirmatory factor analysis proved right both the use of a single overall score and three specific scale scores. KKS scores are associated with various variables (social experiences, emotional intelligence, personality dimensions), consistent with the model of social competence development. Differential validity of specific scales has also been confirmed.
Norms
New s-ten norms for individuals aged 14–19 and 20–29. S-ten norms for individuals aged 30–59 are based on research conducted in 2000.
The test is also available as an online examination on the Epsilon Platform and as an option for entering and calculating scores from the paper-and-pencil version on the Epsilon Platform.
