Two-dimension Emotional Intelligence Inventory assesses basis components of emotional intelligence such as the ability to access, respect, and understand one’s own anh others’ emotions, taking into account how the examinee interprets and reacts to various emotiogenic situations. A concept of Solvey and Mayer was the theoretical background of the tool construction.
DINEMO consists of 33 items containing descriptions of several situation – sources of emotions. All situations are linked with four sorts of response. Each time the examinee chooses the typical ones for her/himself. The inventory enables to interpret scores with regard to two factorial scales and the overall score. The DINEMO scale are: INNI – the ability to recognize, understand and respect others’ emotions, and JA – the ability to become aware of understand and express one’s own emotions.
The 2nd edition of the manual (2024) is now available for purchase, featuring new norms based on the results from research conducted on a representative sample of 470 persons aged 14–29 from the Polish population. The manual also presents new data on the reliability and validity of DINEMO, along with expanded interpretive guidelines.
Materials:
- Kit (manual, 25 test sheets, scoring key)
- Manual
- Test sheets (25 copies)
- Scoring key
Mainly in research, for limited use in individual diagnosis.
Reliability
Varied internal consistency coefficients depending on the scale (the lowest for the ME scale). The overall score and the OTHERS scale demonstrate fully satisfactory reliability. The low reliability of the ME scale warrants caution when using it for individual diagnosis.
Validity
Confirmatory factor analysis has validated the use of both an overall score and two specific scores, which are indicators of interpersonal and intrapersonal emotional intelligence. The OTHERS scale shows moderate correlations with other measures of emotional intelligence, personality dimensions, and social competence. Satisfactory data supports the validity of the overall score.
Norms
S-ten norms are available for individuals aged 14–16 and 17–29.
The test is also available as an online examination on the Epsilon Platform and as an option for entering and calculating scores from the paper-and-pencil version on the Epsilon Platform.
