CDI 2 is a complete set of tools which allow for a comprehensive assessment of depression symptoms in children and adolescents aged 7–18. CDI 2 describes the child from three different perspectives: the present set of questionnaires includes a self-rating questionnaire (both regular and short), a parent (or other guardian) questionnaire and a teacher questionnaire. CDI 2 can help to identify children and adolescents suffering of depressive symptoms. Together with other sources these tools can help to identify at an early stage children and teenagers susceptible to depression as well as to monitor the outcomes of therapy.
The questionnaires also include scales measuring emotional problems and problems related to everyday functioning; in addition the self-rating version includes subscales measuring negative mood /somatic symptoms, low self-esteem, lack of behaviour efficacy and interpersonal problems. Time of filling out the self-report version is from 10 to 15 minutes, of the version for parent and teacher – from 5 to 10 minutes, and of the shortened version – about 5 minutes.
Materials:
- Complete set (manual, set of sheets – 25 copies of each version)

CDI 2 can help to identify children and adolescents suffering of depressive symptoms. Together with other sources these tools can help to identify at an early stage children and teenagers susceptible to depression as well as to monitor the outcomes of therapy. It provides an appropriate index of range and intensity of depressive symptoms.
Reliability
High internal consistency of the total score in all questionnaires; satisfactory reliability of the scores in all scales.
Validity
Confirmed discriminant validity – the test differentiates children and adolescents diagnosed with major depressive disorders and those with other clinical diagnoses (original research); in the Polish research children and adolescents with diagnosed depressive symptoms were compared to a sample of general population (with parallel socio-demographic characteristics) and to a group of children and adolescents with other diagnoses (ASD, ADHD). Moreover, convergent and divergent validity was confirmed by correlations with the scores in other depression-assessing questionnaires (original research) or with appropriate scales in CONNERS 3® or ASRS® questionnaires (Polish research).
Norms
Separate for each gender and combined; separate for age groups 7–12 and 13–18; for each version (S, R, N) the norms developed on the quota sample of approx. 1000 persons (3000 questionnaires in total).
The test is also available as an online examination on the Epsilon Platform and as an option for entering and calculating scores from the paper-and-pencil version on the Epsilon Platform.
