PERSONALITY DIAGNOSIS. NEO-PI-R INVENTORY IN THEORY AND PRACTICE
The Big Five framework of personality traits from Paul T. Costa, Jr & Robert McCrae gains on popularity among personality psychologists, social and clinical psychologists. It became world famous thanks to the NEO-PI-R Personality Inventory, created on its basis. This inventory, adapted to Polish conditions and published by the Psychological Test Laboratory of the Polish Psychologists’ Association in 2006, measures five main personality factors - Neuroticism, Extraversion, Openness to experience, Agreeableness, and Conscientiousness- each containing six facets. Thanks to it, the psychologist using NEO-PI-R for diagnostic or research purposes, gains more information than it were possible with other inventories or personality tests. This publication gives further information about theoretical aspects of NEO-PI-R and its practical uses.
