IDS-2 in Diagnosing Dyslexia and the Risk of Dyslexia

One minute reading • Monday, February 12, 2024

We are pleased to announce that a guide for the IDS-2 in diagnosing dyslexia and the risk of dyslexia is now available for sale.

Thanks to this publication, the IDS-2 Intelligence and Development Scales for Children and Adolescents which are very popular in Poland can also be used to diagnose symptoms and pathomechanisms of dyslexia and the risk of dyslexia. The guide presents not only detailed diagnostic procedures using IDS-2 in cases of suspected dyslexia or risk of dyslexia, but also includes a new Phonological Awareness Test designed to assess phonological deficits in adolescents aged 11–16 years.

An undoubted advantage of the guide is that it also contains suggestions for further actions both when dyslexia is diagnosed (the assessment will then focus on factors accompanying dyslexia), and when, despite evident symptoms of reading difficulties, dyslexia is not diagnosed (the assessment will focus on other possible causes of reading problems). In both cases, such an assessment, conducted using tests from the IDS-2, can be helpful in determining the scope and form of therapeutic interventions.

We hope that this newly published work will significantly contribute to facilitating the work of psychologists involved in the diagnosis of dyslexia and the risk of dyslexia.
