The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory®-2 – MMPI®-2

MMPI®-2 – the world’s most popular clinical inventory - for the first time lawfully adapted in Poland.

MMPI®-2 is an inventory widely used in clinical diagnosis to assess personality and mental disorders. It may be useful in diagnosing such disorders as hypochondria, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, paranoia etc. The main applicaton of the MMPI®-2 is the psychiatric diagnosis, but it is more and more used in non-clinical context (screening of job candidates, student recruitment, army enlistment).

MMPI®-2 is a self-descriptive personality inventory. The examinee has to take an attitude towards 567 statements describing several behaviors and beliefs. The inventory enables to diagnose functioning of the examinee in over 100 dimensions. Results can be formulated in 121 scales, including 10 clinical and 9 control scales. The inventory is designed for adults.

The MMPI was first published in 1942 in the USA. Since then the Inventory has enjoyed uninterrupted popularity. The revised version of MMPI, or MMPI®-2, was published in 1989. According to the agreement between Minnesota University Press, the copyright holder, and the Laboratory, we set out to develop the Polish adaptation of  MMPI®-2. The inventory was normalized on a representative all-Polish sample of adults aged 18-69, about 1200-strong.

Polish adaptation of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory®- 2 will be published in November 2012. Computerized version in progress.
