The normalization process for the Polish version of the IDS-2 (Intelligence and Development Scales for Children) is coming to an end. All test materials are already available for purchase (aiding materials, sheets, keys and test booklets). Test manuals will be available in the first quarter 2019.

Prof. Matczak's jubilee celebration was organized on November 8, 2018, the occassion being her round anniversary. There were lots of best wishes, flowers, hugs, memories, champaign and, most of all, laughter. For 20 years Professor Matczak has been head of the Laboratory's main research section always commenting on our efforts and ideas, whether good or bad, with a merry smile. She is our best mentor, the Laboratory's good spirit and our personal icon of style.

TKR Parental Competences Test, the tool developped originally by the Laboratory and co-authored by Prof. Anna Matczak and Dr. Aleksandra Jaworowska will have its Spanish adaptation. TEA-Ediciones, the leading test publisher in Spanish-speaking countries with a tradition of sixty years of publishing is willing to adapt the tool in Spain. The Spanish version should be available in two years.

The January 2018 issue of the American Psychological Association's newsletter dedicated to the 40 Section of Clinical Neuropsychology features an interview with Prof. Bernice Marcopulos (James Madison University, Virginia University) and with Prof. Emilia Łojek (Chair of Neuropsychology, Department of Psychology, University of Warsaw).

The fourth Cracow conference on psychological diagnosis – whose guiding theme this year was New Tools for the Assessment of Cognitive Functions and for Clinical Diagnosis – is already behind us. The event was co-organized by the board of the Cracow PTP branch together with the Institute of Applied Psychologii of the Jagiellonian University. The conference was devoted as usual to the tools recently developped by the Psychological Tests Laboratory.

There were many interesting events last weekend. On Friday, February 16 a training conference of the Warsaw Branch of the Polish Psychological Association (PTP) was held together with the Ordinary General Assembly of the Branch. The Laboratory was represented at both events by Urszula Brzezińska and Dr. Emilia Wrocławska-Warchala.

Last week the Laboratory was visited by Oleg Burlachuk the representative of OS Ukraine. Founded in 2007 as a company controlled by Giunti OS International Group it is the first and only test publisher in Ukraine. It already has on its offer Ukrainian versions of major assessment tools including ADOS-2, Leiter-3 or MMPI-2. Like the Laboratory the OS Ukraine is also associate member of ETPG (European Test Publishers Group).

Another meeting of the EFPA Board of Assessement took place in mid-January in Berlin. Poland was represented by Urszula Brzezinska who participated in the meeting on behalf of the Polish Psychological Association. Ms. Brzezińska co-ordinates implementation of the Euro Test-WO certificate in Poland.

An information reached us that during training sessions for employees of counselling institutions the Intelligence and Development Scales (IDS) for children aged 5-10 published by us are said not to measure intelligence and their use in assessing mental disabilities is presented as unethical.
